A once-brilliant surgeon (Richard Kiley) has become totally withdrawn. Dr—Thomas Patton, once a brilliant surgeon, now specializes in pathology, where he works only with the dead. Nor can anything reawaken his interest in the living, not even the needs of his critically ill ex-wife.
